East Lobe, Lake Bonney Circumnavigation Metadata 2 files exist: 1) elb_transect_data.csv 2) elb_survey_data.csv Topographic data was acquired with a kinematic, survey-grade GPS unit. Field data was collected in kinematic mode around the lake and edge of wetted zone, and in static mode at each transect sampling or measurement locaiton. Data was post-processed to be corrected with base-station data collected at a benchmark at Lake Bonney camp. *********************************** In elb_transect_data.csv, data is organized in the following columns: ELB_ID - East Lobe, Lake Bonney point identification, as T#L#, where T# is the transect number, and L# is the locaiton number within the transect (1-5, where 1 is dry soil and 5 is lake edge) northing_(m) - northing in meters, UTM easting_(m) - easting in meters, UTM elevation_(m) - elevation relative to EGM 96 approximates sea level active_layer_depth_(cm) - depth to resistance for manually pushing a t-bar thin, rigid rod into the soil grav_moisture_(%) - gravimetric soil moisture content, determined by drying soil samples overnight soil_activity_(mS/cm) - soil activity as determined by Hanna Instruments probe Sieve1(%) - percent of soil sample retained on the 4.75 mm size sieve Sieve2(%) - percent of soil sample retained on the 2.00 mm size sieve Sieve3(%) - percent of soil sample retained on the 425 um size sieve Sieve4(%) - percent of soil sample retained on the 75 um size sieve pan(%) - percent of soil sample that makes it into the pan below all 4 sieves NOTE that soil samples were collected at all locations within a transect every 5 transects or so. *********************************** In te lf_survey_data.csv, data is organized in the following columns: ELB_pt_number - East Lobe Lake Bonney point identification number, as determined by GPS survey equipment point_type - either "shore" for a shoreline point, or "wet zone" for the outside edge of the wetted zone date_aquired - date (DD-MMM-YY) that this point data was collected, all are noted 05-Jan-06, but survey was conducted on 05 and 06 Jan 2006 northing_(m) - northing in meters, UTM easting_(m) - easting in meters, UTM elevation_(m) - elevation relative to EGM 96 approximates sea level *********************************** Contact: Michael N.
