HydroSed2D

The open source code HydroSed2D stands for two-dimensional Hydrodynamics and Sediment transport. It solves the non-linear shallow water equations based on unstructured meshes. It is easy to model complicated domain. Sediment transport can be solved in both quasi-steady and coupled modes with the hydrodynamic part.

Current release of HydroSed2D is v1.0. It is currently not under active development anymore. It is made public so it may be useful to others. There are many alternatives such as SRH-2D and HEC-RAS 2D.

HydroSed2D can be downloaded from GitHub (it was migrated from sourceforge for convenience).

HydroSed2D is released under GNU General Public License (GPL) v3

Application examples

One-dimensional transcritical flows over a hump

This test case is to show the capability of the code to capture the steady state when the bottom slope is not zero.

Dam break waves on a sloping beach with a block

This case is to show the ability of the code to capture the dry/wet interface. It is also compared with the 3D Volume of Fluid (VOF) CFD simulation result with OpenFOAM.
